Grow Where You’re Rooted

To live deeply is to embrace your roots. So frequently we seem to strive towards the next best thing, but sometimes we are simply called to be in a season of stillness.

Nourish The Soil

“A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop-a hundred, sixty or thirty times was sown.”
Matthew 13:3-8 NIV

By planting firm in God’s love, our values, actions, and speech all begins to align. By ignoring the things that are important to the world and focusing on what’s important to God, we will find that are faith is made stronger and does not waiver.

Ways to nourish your soil

  • Read the word daily
  • Pray often
  • Share the gospel

Water + Light

"but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
John 14:4 NIV

Much like a flower, we need water and light in order to flourish. But, we don’t just need any water and light, we need Living Water and the Light of the Earth. In the book of John, Jesus offered the woman everlasting life and when she “drank” in the living water of Christ (accepted the goof news of eternal life in Christ), she was filled with new life.

Producing Fruit

"This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples."
John 15:8 NIV

By nourishing our soil and receiving living water, we are able to produce fruit. Our fruit blossoms on branches that are sturdy, branches in Christ. Any fruit we try and product on our own accord become weak and dry up. Your fruit is a direct reflection of your relationship with Christ.

May we all strive to live a life that sets its roots in healthy soil and allow Jesus to transform us, so that we may bear abundant fruit.
